By using this "One Shot Crucible", a lot of possible mistakes by the welder are eradicated:

1. No preheating of the crucible, which if badly performed will generate porosities in welds;
2. No setting of the automatic thimble (and suppression of the magnesia powder), which if badly done could prevent metal from pouring and become a safety hazard. The thimble is preset at the factory, and therefore the crucible is ready to use straight from the box;
3. No cleaning of the crucible walls, which could destroy the crucible or induce slag inclusions in the welds if not correctly performed;
4. For example, when performing 8 welds in a shift, a welder will carry 1 ton less weight by using the "One-Shot Crucible" process than any "Standard Crucible" process. This will inevitably result in less back injuries and strains for the welder.
5. This crucible also makes possible a filtering operation of the exhaust fumes (Eco Filter). The "One Shot Crucible CJ2 with the Eco Filter" has had satisfactory tests in many underground systems (NYCTA, Eurotunnel, Paris, London Underground, Scottish Underground System …). It drastically reduces the amount of fumes escaping during the aluminothermic process.
